A visit to a client’s home provides a window into their style preferences and their needs. That’s why Wayne Graham of Graham’s & Son Interiors relies on an in-home consultation to learn what the client wants.
“I bring lots of samples to the home,” he says. Once he sees the room or rooms that require window treatments, “the questions start to come,” he explains.
There are some important considerations before fabrics are even discussed, according to Graham. Privacy, sun control and energy conservation can all be impacted by window covering choices. Draperies and shutters can help insulate windows, keeping in the heat in the winter and keeping the heat out in the summer. Window coverings can also keep upholstery fabric from fading. Graham’s also specializes in upholstery and custom furniture.
When considering style preferences, Graham suggests that there are many ways to approach window treatments from a combination of a roller shade, sheers and side panels to Roman blinds to shutters that can stand on their own for a clean, simple look that provides excellent heat control.
Delivery and installation can be expected in about three weeks from the order date. More elaborate treatments may take longer to create, especially if fabric is being imported from overseas, explains Matthew Graham, the “son” in Graham’s & Son Interiors. They are able to have the curtains and blinds created quickly by their own contract workers.
He says the installers leave the home as they found it and will walk the customer through the operation of the window treatment, answer questions and offer advice concerning proper cleaning techniques.
