To many homeowners, living in York Region is more
than owning a home. It’s about being part of a community where you and your
family can live, work and play. Tom and Diane Mitchell from the Mitchell Team
at Keller Williams are both long-time York Region residents and according to
Tom, it’s a great place to raise a family.
The region covers 1,776 square kilometers of
farmland, wetlands, kettle lakes, the Oak Ridges Moraine and more than 2,070
hectares of regional forests.
“What I love about York Region is that it has all the amenities of a
city, but you get to live in the country,” explains Diane, adding that there
are abundant places to go hiking, cross country skiing, and boating. “We’re
right in the hub of some of the most beautiful rolling hills and countryside
and York Region boasts some of the best farmland and
equestrian centres in the world.”
For families with school-aged children, York Region
offers some excellent educational facilities including St. Andrew’s College,
Pickering College, Richland Academy, as well as exceptional public schools.
Three major hospitals are also located within the region, providing excellent
health care to all residents.
“We’re one of the fastest growing communities in
Canada with a culturally diverse community,” says Tom.
Easily accessible to Toronto by highways 400 and
404, residents and visitors can also travel to and from York Region with the Go
Train and VIVA bus system.
